Meanings for sansone

Sansone means son of the sun. The name originates from Shimshon which is Hebrew for son of the sun. Traditions tell of Israelites migrating to Sicily to escape persecution, living there for ~1,000 years practicing their faith freely until the Spanish Inquisition when they had to convert, leave while paying an exit tax, or die. Many of those that converted and remained changed their names to Italianized forms. Samson is the English varietation.
