“I’d buy the book, and give it to God knows how many people who mangle those wonderful old rose names.” ~Lee Sherman
Well…what can be said about Lee Sherman that hasn’t already been said? She’s been growing old roses since she got tired of growing new roses.
As the self proclaimed “Dean of the L.S School of Gardening”, I think the old roses make up the majority of her garden these days… Why? ‘Cause they’re easy to grow and attract wildlife. Yes, the old country roses love her in return and they call in the birds and wildlife to her garden. I can only state that she’s
been a real mentor, inspiration, friend, and ..er.. …ambassador for the world of lazy rose gardening. She must have 500 old world roses in her back yard!
Lee has imported rare old rose budwood for propagation and sharing with other rose lovers. The rose “Sheerstripe” is named in her honor. She always has something uplifting to say, keeps things simple, and has gobs of fun! Bravo to my dear friend Lee Sherman for her contribution toward old garden roses!
